Thermoset elastomers are used in many medical applications. Major elastomeric devices include seals, stoppers, gaskets, bulbs, containers, and bags. Nowhere is elastomer quality more critical than in the medical field; elastomers must meet stringent requirements for purity and consistency. Butyl and halobutyl elastomers are proven polymers for use in pharmaceutical closures and various medical device components.
