NPE2012: Jon Huntsman, Jr. to speak at opening gala
SPI announced that Jon Huntsman, Jr. will deliver the keynote address at the opening gala of NPE2012. Taking place on the evening of Sunday, April 1, 2012, the event will celebrate the 75th anniversary of SPI and the 50th anniversary of the Plastics Hall of Fame. Ten plastics industry leaders will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during the event. On the following day, April 2, the NPE2012 exhibit halls and conferences will open at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
NPE2012: Super Sunday in Orlando
SPI has organized a “Super Sunday” the day before NPE2012 officially starts: It will be a day dedicated to networking opportunities, social events, and presentations by top business leaders. While the exhibit halls and concurrent conferences will open on Monday, April 2, the schedule for Super Sunday on April 1 includes a morning golf tournament and evening Opening Gala for which separate registration is required, plus three afternoon events open to all who have registered to attend NPE2012. A highlight of the Opening Gala will be the keynote address by Jon Huntsman, Jr., former Utah governor and U.S. ambassador and recent candidate for U.S. President.
NPE2012: Dow commits to underwrite Antec program, SPI Technical Education program, and Technology Central
Dow will be the exclusive corporate sponsor of the Technical Education Program and Technology Central at NPE2012. SPI announced, that Dow will be the exclusive corporate underwriter of Antec 2012, which will be co-located with the NPE trade show. The world’s biggest plastics conference will include more than 500 original peer-reviewed technical presentations. In addition, Dow will sponsor what SPI has dubbed Technology Central in the North-South Hall of the OCCC. This will include SPI’s 2nd International Plastics Design Competition, four multi-exhibitor specialty pavilions, and a technology theater for presentations and demonstrations by exhibitors.
Engel: Making the difference
„Engel makes the Difference“- this is the motto at the Engel North America stand. The Austrian machinery specialist Engel announced that it will exhibit a total of seven highly integrated and automated manufacturing cells covering a wide range of industries from Automotive and Technical Molding to Packaging and Medical.
NPE2012: “The Return of the Machines”
“The improved economies and logistics of the new venue have encouraged many NPE2012 exhibitors to purchase more exhibit space and bring more machinery to the show, much of it to be operated on-site,” said Gene Sanders, SPI senior vice president of trade shows and conferences. “Contributing to this enhanced commitment by exhibitors is the steadily improving manufacturing sector of the U.S. economy.” Sanders cited reports from three exhibitors of injection molding systems and a fourth company specializing in auxiliary systems as representative of the positive response to NPE2012 from machinery companies, showing how the greater scale of exhibits can increase the return on trade show investment for attendees.

Online at www.npe.org are resources that help international visitors get the most benefit from NPE2012. Visitors may register online at www.npe.org and can access a multilingual section of the website that provides information on NPE2012 and instructions regarding visitor delegations and visa requirements, with links to relevant government agencies.
Deadline for submissions to the International Plastics Design Competition is approaching
The second International Plastics Design Competition (IPDC), one of the highlights at NPE2012, is open for entries from any end market and any country in the world. Entries to this prestigious completion may be submitted online at www.plasticsdesign.org by February 1, 2012. Entries can be for finished products or components and can be submitted by any individual or company along the supply chain: designer, toolmaker, processor, material supplier, equipment builder, or OEM.
NPE2012: Extensive educational program
SPI the Plastics Industry Trade Association has announced the agenda for its Business of Plastics Conference, a key part of the content-rich educational program to be co-located with the NPE2012 international plastics exposition.

The new motto of Cannon is “Smart Technology – Save Energy”. This year the German subsidiary of the established Italian machinery company will present at Fakuma new machine concepts and further developments for processing technologies, conventional as well as recent ones.
Rampf: Bio-based sealing solutions
The system supplier will be exhibiting at the WVIB (Association of industrial companies based in the Baden region) joint stand, where it will be presenting its solutions for sealing, casting, bonding and designing based on renewable raw materials.
