Elmet: Technologies for LSR processing

The Elmet focus at K 2010 will be on precision multi-cavity moulds, electronically controlled valve gate cold decks, and cost-efficient metering systems for LSR processing

The company will showcase the new Top 1000 metering pump, developed as an alternative to the existing Top 3000 metering system. Both versions operate pneumatically and are suitable for 20 l and 200 l drums. Delivering a maximum output of 2.5 l/min at a 1:1 mixing ratio, they can admix up to 10 % colourant. The Top 3000 metering system relies on patented closed-loop control technology capable of providing constant, documented metering precision.

Another highlight will be the current range of valve gate cold decks for moulding liquid and solid silicone and other rubber. Electronic control for high repeatability is a key feature of these devices. The filling level of each cavity can thus be optimised during the injection process, with direct gating.

Elmet products will also be on show at booths of partner companies. Thus, at Engel (hall 15, stand B42, C58), visitors will be able to view a fully automatic multi-cavity injection mould for processing solid silicone rubber. Elmet's new distribution partner, DME Normalien (hall 1, stand C25), presents examples of valve gate cold deck technology, while an Elmet single-cavity micro-mould is in use at Rep (hall 14, stand B57). A four-cavity mould with electronically controlled needle valve gate system for simultaneous moulding of four different parts will be on exhibit at Maplan (hall 16, stand B47), and a Top 3000 metering system is featured in an application at Silcotech (hall 5, stand C42).
