Ferromatik Milacron: Premiere of the modular F-Series

Under the motto “Innovation à la carte”, Ferromatik Milacron will present its new ‘house speciality’ the F-Series. Starting in 2011, the F-Series will gradually replace the existing Ferromatik Milacron series, including the all-electric machines Elektra, hydraulic machines K-Tec, and hybrid machines Vitesse.

F 160, modular 1,600 kN injection moulding machine

The F-Series will be available in ten clamping force sizes from 500–6,500 kN. The new machine concept allows to combine individual modules, so that each machine is fully customised. Thus machine configurations can emphasise areas such as performance, energy consumption, dynamics, or precision. At the show, the company will present an F 160 with a clamping force of 1,600 kN and a GP (General Purpose) size 50 injection unit with a screw diameter of 50 mm. The F 160 will demonstrate production of PP packaging on a two-cavity mould from Italian mould maker Incos in a cycle time of 6 s. The Ferromatik Milacron robot FMR 8-5 Advanced, which will remove and stack the parts, is also making its debut at the K show. Produced by the Swedish company Wemo, controls for the robot are fully integrated with the Mosaic machine controls.

In addition, the company will present its Vitesse series, first introduced in 2009. The Vitesse is available in four sizes: 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, and 5,000 kN. The original selection of international size injection units (1,000, 1,650, 2,650 und 4,400) has now been expanded with size 6,610 and 10,100 injection units. At K 2010 a Vitesse 300 will be presented within a complete production cell, including In-Mould-Labeling, quality control, part stacking, and packaging. The production cell was created together with the Swiss partner Müller IML.

Furthermore, the Elektron is offered as an economy model. It is available in eight clamping force sizes ranging from 500–3,300 kN, with a selection of seven injection units from international size 55–1,540. Assembly for the Elektron in done by Milacron China and machines are shipped directly from China to customers via European ports. At the booth, an Elektron 75, with a clamping force of 750 kN and an international size 300 injection unit, will produce PP business card cases in a single cavity mould from the Milacron affiliate DME in a cycle time of 12 s.
