PHILIPPINES: Petron awards Foster Wheeler contract for Bataan refinery upgrade project

Petron has awarded Foster Wheeler an engineering and procurement contract for a 37,500-b/d delayed coker unit being built as part of the Petron Refinery Master Plan-2 project in Bataan, the Philippines.

The upgrade, described as the company’s “biggest and most ambitious investment to date,” will result in the refinery having a processing capacity of 180,000 b/d and the ability to process a wider range of crude oils.  It will also increase propylene production capacity by nearly 200% to more than 250,000 t/y.  

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2014.
