Kumho gains OE fitment on Dodge Journey crossover

DETROIT - Chrysler L.L.C. will equip certain models of its 2009 Dodge Journey -- a mid-size crossover vehicle due in dealer showrooms this spring -- with 19-inch Kumho Solus KH 16 radials, marking Kumho Tire Co. Inc.´s first North American original equipment fitment.

The Journey, which debuted last fall at the Frankfurt International Auto Show, is based on the Dodge Avenger chassis and styling but has a nearly 5-inch longer wheelbase to accommodate a third row of seats -- for optional 5+2 seating -- and additional cargo space. While this is Kumho´s first OE fitment for a North American vehicle, it´s not the tire maker´s first with Chrysler. It already supplies Chrysler with Ecsta high-performance touring tires for export versions of its Sebring coupe.
