DSM Engineering Plastics: Arnitel Eco launched
The new material, which is already being sampled to selected customers, is specifically suited for applications in consumer electronics, sports & leisure, and automotive interiors. The company cites LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) calculations that show a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, cradle to gate, of up to 50 % versus oil-based thermoplastic copolyesters. Arnitel Eco is a first generation product, which is currently not yet suitable for high temperatures.
Another new Arnitel product is the halogen-free flame retardant XG series developed to replace PVC in wire insulations and cable jackets and Arnitel C for wire and cable coating. Halogen-free plastics will be one of the main themes at the DSM Engineering Plastics stand.
