Kraiburg TPE: TPEs for all senses
Developed in close cooperation with Lanxess, this TPV based on Levapren EPDM combined with a polar copolyester, shows exceptional good heat and oil resistance. Maximum operating temperature is said to be up to 170 °C. Hipex can withstand such temperatures for a period of several days. The polar nature of the two polymer components is the reason why the TPV also displays very good oil resistance. Other TPEs intended for similar purposes only achieve these properties at hardnesses of over Shore 90 A. In contrast, the range of hardnesses covered by Hipex is very similar to that of rubber. In addition, the material also displays very good adhesion to polar engineering plastics. That makes it ideal for use in cost-effective two-component injection moulding. Particular attention was also paid to further optimise the flow characteristics to make possible long flow paths and few injection points.
The compounds of the Thermolast M line, specially geared to the needs of the pharmaceutical and medical market, also offer optimised product features. An additional MT series is available now with an exceptionally low coefficient of friction. This feature is important for applications like insulin pens or protective covers for minimally invasive operating instruments. The MT/HD line enables significantly shorter cooling times during processing of thick-wall applications. An extensive range of hardness variants for bonding to PC and ABS is available.

Good wet grip and a colourful optical appearance are essential for modern household devices like Emsa’s salad spinner
In the consumer segment new Thermolast K compounds for "wet grip" applications have been introduced. They provide for very good grip for example of a handle of a household device or a tool even when wet. In consumer applications it may also be of interest to add an appealing fragrance to the product. For this purpose Kraiburg TPE has developed fragrance batches making it possible to provide all compounds with any desired fragrance. At the K 2010 interested visitors can experience the sensorial examples of the newly developed Thermolast K compounds. Under the motto "Touch and Feel", the company exhibits many parts that demonstrate the ability of TPEs to appeal to all senses.
Kraiburg TPE is one of the exhibitors at Rubber Street.
