CHINA: UOP’s Oleflex Technology Selected For New Chinese Propylene Plant

UOP says Zhejiang Shaoxing Sanjin Petrochemical Co. has selected Honeywell’s UOP Oleflex technology for a new propylene plant in China.

A new propane dehydrogenation unit to be built at Zhejiang’s site in Shaoxing City will use the C3 Oleflex process to produce 450,000 t/y of propylene.

In addition to technology, UOP will provide engineering design, catalysts, adsorbents, equipment, staff training and technical services for the project, which is expected to begin production in 2013.

Zhejiang currently has the capacity to produce 600,000 t/y of polypropylene.
