Kuraray: Elastomer portfolio expansion

The Japanese company Kuraray produces an extensive range of resins, chemicals, and fibres and is one of the most important PVA/PVB suppliers worldwide. Of special interest for the elastomer industry are the functionalised liquid rubbers (see p. 238), acting as plasticisers or adhesion promotors.

TP-301 trans-polyisoprene is a synthetic substitute for Gutta-Percha and Balata, mainly for dental health care applications, medical splints, but also for hotmelt adhesives, and tyres.

In addition, the elastomer portfolio contains thermoplastic elastomers marketed under the Septon, Hybrar brands, Kurarity acrylic TPEs and thermoplastic polyurethanes under the Kuramiron brand.
