Robert Hu joins Hallstar as Vice President R&D

Dr Robert Shengkui Hu has joined Hallstar’s senior management team as Vice President, Research and Development. He will replace Gary Wentworth, who will retire from the company this year after overseeing the transition of his responsibilities.

SPE appoints Willem De Vos as new CEO

Willem (Wim) De Vos has been named as new Chief Executive Officer of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE). He succeeds Susan Oderwald, who left SPE in December.

Personnel changes at Zeon Europe

As of 1 April 2011, Haruhiko Takahashi has taken on responsibility as the new Managing Director of Zeon Europe in Düsseldorf, Germany. Takahashi was last employed in the Zeon R&D centre in Kawasaki, Japan. Dr. Walter Heider is now Director of the Specialty Material Business for this business unit.

Galpin and Joly promoted to new positions at Teknor Apex Europe

Barry Galpin has been promoted to the position of European sales director and Dr. Gert Joly to the position of R&D manager for the TPE Division of Teknor Apex in Europe.

New Managing Director at Biesterfeld Polska

As of 1 October 2011, Waldemar Jurczak has been appointed as the operative Managing Director at the Polish branch of Biesterfeld Plastic. The expanded management of Biesterfeld Polska Sp. z o. o. now consists of Marek Parol, who holds responsibility for the administration of the company, and Jurczak, who is responsible for the operative business.

KraussMaffei AG names new Chief Executive Officer

KraussMaffei AG has appointed Jan Siebert as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective from 1 January 2012. He will succeed Dr. Dietmar Straub, who is managing the activities of KraussMaffei Group since April 2007 and who is leaving the company at his own request on 31 December 2011.

Hordijk and Vroomen promoted to new market manager positions at Teknor Apex in Europe

Teknor Apex has promoted Stef Hordijk and Ger Vroomen to new market manager positions in Europe. Hordijk is the new Senior Market Manager for Non-Automotive TPEs, Europe, and Vroomen Senior Automotive Market Manager for TPEs, Europe. Both are based in Geleen, Netherlands.

Kraton appoints Anna Cheng Catalano to its Board of Directors

Kraton announced the appointment of Anna Cheng Catalano to its Board of Directors, effective September 15, 2011.

Teknor Apex strengthens marketing and sales of TPEs in the Americas

The Thermoplastic Elastomer Division of Teknor Apex, Pawtucket, USA, has promoted Nick Sandland and Elizabeth Ponte to two new positions created to provide a strong regional focus for marketing and sales in the Americas. Sandland is now Marketing and Sales Director, Americas, and PonteMarketing Manager, Americas.

New Speaker of the Board of Management at Ter Hell Plastic

Effective 1 July 2011, Claus Dobrowolski, 54, has been appointed as new Speaker of the Board of Management at Ter Hell Plastic GmbH. Klaus Kleeb, who has held this post so far as Managing Partner, will retire from the operative business at the end of the year. He will continue to support the company as a consultant.

Hans-Theodor Kutsch leaves Albis Plastic

After almost 20 years of service, Hans-Theodor Kutsch has asked the controlling bodies of Otto Krahn GmbH & Co. KG to relieve him from all his duties within the group, with effect from 30 June 2011.

Heitmann confirmed for another 5 years as Chairman of the Board of Management at Lanxess

At its today’s meeting, the Supervisory Board of Lanxess AG appointed Dr. Axel C. Heitmann, 51, as Chairman of the Board of Management for a further five years.

Synco de Vogel is new Sales Manager Germany for Enplast

Synco de Vogel has been appointed as Enplast’s Sales Manager for Germany. He has a broad knowledge, both technical and commercial, of the European TPE markets as he has been working as Market Development Manager Thermoplastic Elastomers for Solvay Engineered Polymers (acquired by Lyondell Basell in 2008) and as Key Account Manager at RPC Bebo b.v.

Patrick Thomas, CEO of Bayer MaterialScience, succeeds Jacques van Rijckevorsel as President of PlasticsEurope. The organisation’s General Assembly elected him during the PolyTalk industry summit, which took place in Rochefort en Yvelines on 25 – 27 May 2011.

Smithers Rapra names new Senior Process Technologist

Jon Lea has been appointed as new Senior Process Technologist at Smithers Rapra. In his new role, he will support the technical processing team and specialised manufacturing services at the European site headquarters within the UK.

Roger J. Wood, 48, was named as new Chief Executive Officer and President of Dana Holding Corporation, effective 18 April 2011.

ACS honours Dr. Carl Willis and Prof. Timothy Long

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has selected Dr. Carl Willis of Kraton Polymers and Prof. Timothy Long of Virginia Tech as recipients of the “2011 Cooperative Research Award in Polymer Science and Engineering”. The award was presented at the 2011 ACS Conference in Anaheim, CA, USA, on 30 March 2011.
