Kraton FG1901 for coating application successfully passes demanding test series
Kraton said it has tested the performance properties of an industrial coatings starting point formulation made with Kraton FG1901 using ASTM standards. The testing was performed on bare, cold rolled steel panels with a coating thickness of 2 mils and included salt spray resistance, adhesion, and impact, which all showed very good performance results, according to a company announcement.
TPE shortens cycle time in the production of logo plates on engine covers
Mues Products & Moulds GmbH, based in Kolbermoor near Rosenheim, Germany, has put on the market a new type of logo plates for automotive engine covers. Cooperation partner for the development was Kraiburg TPE. The TPE compounder based in Waldkraiburg supplied the material for the soft component of the part. Hipex allows the production of the part in a 2K injection moulding process. Compared to a manual assembly of the hard and the soft component, this shortens the cycle time significantly and reduces the error rate.

TPU long-life diaphragms for industrial units
Diaphragms in industrial units, such as pumps, are subject to harsh conditions. For this reason, the Simrit business unit of the Weinheim-based German company Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has developed diaphragms of thermoplastic polyurethane that are particularly tough. According to the company, the so-called long-life diaphragms can increase the service lives of the units in which these components are installed by up to a factor of three – as compared to plants with conventional acryl nitrite butadiene rubber (NBR) components.
