SGF

In 1952 the board of Sveriges Gummitekniska Förening, SGF (The Swedish Institution of Rubber Technology) recognised the need for compiled information regarding all the different raw materials available to the rubber industry and the first edition of Gummiteknisk Handbok was published. Since then eight other books has been issued and some years ago it was decided to go over to English language in order to reach a bigger area of customers. At the same time the name was changed to Rubber Handbook. The borderline between rubber and plastics has been shifted and is now very vague due to mixtures between the two products, and the introduction of thermoplastic elastomers. Thus many materials are used in both fields and the amount of alternatives is increasing all the time.

The SGF organisation is during year 2000 celebrating its golden jubilee, 50 years, which is commemored by the publishing of this 10th edition of Rubber Handbook with golden text on the cover.
