Des Weiteren wird beabsichtigt Chemikern und Ingenieuren die Alleinstellungsmerkmale von Kautschuk für Reifen und andere Produkte vorzustellen, so der Autor. Das Buch stellt den Werkstoff Kautschuk und seine Verwendung in technischen Anwendungen vor. Es enthält Kapitel zu Elastomeren und Compounds; Mischen von Compounds und Verarbeitung; Prüfung und Eigenschaften; Produktentwicklung; die Anwendung der Finite-Elemente-Analyse bei Kautschukteilen; sowie Reifen und andere Kautschukprodukte. Das Buch enthält ausführliche Literaturverzeichnisse, die beiden Appendizes Umrechnungsfaktoren und Abkürzungen sowie ein Stichwortverzeichnis. Summary The title has been compiled from many sources of rubber literature, which are often underutilised from the author’s point of view. In addition, the book aims to improve communication among different disciplines. Using a systems approach, it is further intended to introduce chemists and engineers to the unique capabilities of rubber in a wide range of tyre and non-tyre products, explains the author. The book includes an introduction to rubber and its use in engineering applications, as well as chapters on elastomers and compounds; compound mixing and processing; testing and properties; product design; the use of computers and FEA with rubber; non-tyre products; and tyres. Furthermore, the book includes extensive bibliographies in most of its sections, the two appendixes conversion factors and acronyms and abbreviations as well as a subject index. The title covers the basic principles of engineered rubber products and can be recommended as concise reference book.
