This book is intended to give the novice a good introduction to the material, a good understanding of the total process and insight into the feasibility of starting a PDCPD related project.
The book is based on five years of field-experience in looking at new PDCPD projects in terms of part design, tool design, project economics, plant layout, production equipment, production start-ups and new application development.
PDCPD is a relatively new polymer with specific properties and economics. Mostly useful for large parts in low to medium series (up to 15.000 parts per year), it competes very well with thermoformed materials, SMC, RTM and GRP Hand Lay-Up. In its young history, it has mainly been used to produce body panels, but the possibilities reach far beyond this.
Typical current applications for PDCPD are engine covers, tractor hoods, bumpers, fenders, roof modules, large containers, engine dunnage, side panels for harvesters, sewage tanks, electrolyzer cell covers and so on.
