The future of plasticisers in the rubber industry

Two new regulations for the tyre industry, the Directive 76/769/EEC for banishing of softeners with high carcinogenic potential from the tyre, and a new regulation, starting from 2012, for the reduction of rolling friction and the improvement of the wet traction behaviour, momentarily affect the research activities of the manufacturers of tyres, in addition, also of technical rubber articles. Two substantial aspects are the focus of attention thereby: The availability of alternatives to the DAE and the comparison of the performance.
