International Polymers Co. has started up its 200,000-t/y ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
The new facility, owned 75 % by Saudi International Petrochemical (Sipchem) and 25 % by Hanwha Chemical, is considered the first of its kind in the Middle East, noted Sipchem Chief Executive Ahmad A. Al-Ohali.
The start-up process will continue until all production units have been tested to ensure efficiency and an announcement of commercial operation will be made in due course, Al-Ohali added.
