
Quantum Petrochemical has broken ground in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, on a USD 1.5-billion complex that will produce a range of petrochemicals including polyethylene, polypropylene and methanol, according to Nigerian government sources.
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan attended the ground breaking and noted the project will “put Nigeria on the global map for petrochemicals processing.”
Saipem has been appointed project developer and IHS has been identified as the consultant. Further details, including production capacity and expected construction schedule were not given.
