In response to recent a press report by the Associated Press, BorsodChem Zrt. has issued a press release, pointing out its environmental standards:
As one of the largest chemical producers in Central and Eastern Europe and the largest employer in the North Hungary region, BorsodChem is well aware of its responsibility for the environment and the safety of the communities that accommodate its business, says the company.
As such, the company is dedicated to innovation and the constant improvement of its production technologies in order to minimise its ecological footprint.
Environmental capital expenditures at BorsodChem have exceeded EUR 128 million in the past ten years. The company applies the Best Available Techniques (BAT) in its development projects and each BorsodChem production site has obtained a Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Permit – the Europe-wide gold standard for environmental manufacturing excellence. Production technologies and processes are continuously monitored by both internal and external professionals and the relevant authorities for compliance with emission standards and risk management regulations.
BorsodChem says it is transparent on industrial emissions and it is prepared to welcome any NGOs, including environmental and social organisations on its premises to introduce them to the company's compliance with the highest level of European environmental standards and worker health and safety programmes.
