Keyuan starts second SBS production line in Ningbo

Keyuan Petrochemicals Inc. announced that it has completed the trial production and tests of its second production line for styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) and has now commenced commercial production.

The company completed construction of its new 70,000 t/y SBS production facility in Ningbo, China, in September 2011. After several months of trial production that included various technique tests, Keyuan started commercial production with the first production line in January 2012. As of 30 June 2012, this production line had produced 13,049 t of SBS. The company expects that the operational experience gained from the first line will be helpful to better adjust and optimise commercial production of the second line.
