Huarich joins Covestro's Insqin Partner Manufacturer Program
Covestro announced that it is expanding its Insqin Partner Manufacturer Program with newly signed partner Kunshan Huarich Synthetic Leather Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of polyurethane-based synthetic materials in China. According to Covestro, the two companies will collaborate to develop a new range of waterborne PU materials with focus on fashion apparel applications.
Launched in July 2015, the Insqin Partner Manufacturer Program builds stronger connections between manufacturers and brand owners across the PU-coated fabric supply chain. Partners must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to sustainability and transparency, using waterborne PU coating technology and Covestro-endorsed processes to meet the emerging sustainability commitment of brand owners. Huarich is the latest company to join the program. With a long history in synthetic garment material manufacturing and use of water-based materials, Huarich is a global company that serves the world’s leading brands.
“Brands and retailers are stepping up efforts to build sustainable supply chains. A critical part of those efforts is to establish partnerships that catalyze innovative materials development grounded in sustainability. Our program fosters long-term partnerships that create new opportunities for sustainable business along the value chain of PU textiles, an important class of materials in the fashion and sportswear industry,” said Nick Smith, Global Head of Textile Coatings, Covestro. “Huarich is an exemplary company that for many years has focused on delivering high quality with sustainable production conditions. We are delighted to welcome Huarich to the program, and look forward to rolling out exciting new products this year with our new Insqin partner.”
Under the program, Covestro will provide world-class technical support to help Huarich further develop its use of Insqin technology, as well as access to the pilot line in Covestro’s Polymer Research and Development Centre in Shanghai for prototype development. Huarich will also receive verification of its production processes and management systems via a globally recognized third-party audit.
“Our company is committed to exceeding global standards with customer-centric innovation and sustainability. Huarich has had a long-standing interest in adopting waterborne PU; we are therefore pleased to be recognized as a key partner of Covestro,” said Shen Youlin, General Manager of Huarich. “Together, with the technology, processes and skills we gain from this partnership, we look forward to developing and delivering new and innovative PU applications to all our customers in the near future.”
