SAUDI ARABIA: Sadara starts up fourth PE facility at Jubail petrochemical complex

Sadara Chemical,  a  joint  venture  of  Dow  and  Saudi  Aramco,  has started  up  its  fourth  and  final polyethylene  (PE)  production  unit  at  its  complex  in  Jubail,  Saudi  Arabia.

Start-up  of  the  high-pressure,  low-density  PE  plant marks  the  commercialization  of  Sadara's  entire  plastics franchise at the complex.
The  PE  unit  is  part  of  a  USD 20 billion  project  at  Jubail that  includes  26  manufacturing  units,  which,  when  complete, will produce over 3 million t/y of petrochemicals and plastics  to  supply  international  markets  and  the  adjacent  PlasChem Park.
The  remaining  plants  at  the  complex  are  on  schedule for a sequenced start-up throughout 2017, including ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and their derivatives, as well as isocyanates.
