SAUDI ARABIA: Sadara starts up fourth PE facility at Jubail petrochemical complex
Sadara Chemical, a joint venture of Dow and Saudi Aramco, has started up its fourth and final polyethylene (PE) production unit at its complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
Start-up of the high-pressure, low-density PE plant marks the commercialization of Sadara's entire plastics franchise at the complex.
The PE unit is part of a USD 20 billion project at Jubail that includes 26 manufacturing units, which, when complete, will produce over 3 million t/y of petrochemicals and plastics to supply international markets and the adjacent PlasChem Park.
The remaining plants at the complex are on schedule for a sequenced start-up throughout 2017, including ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and their derivatives, as well as isocyanates.
