Smithers Rapra announced that it has opened its expanded and enhanced product testing facility at its Shawbury site in the UK. The facility specialises in the testing of hoses and components for fluid transfer systems for clients in a variety of industries. According to Smithers Rapra, the company will host clients and guests at an extended open house running through December 2017 and early 2018.
“Following a total rebuild in 2017 and upgrading to the latest state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, we are very excited to invite clients and other guests to our new product testing laboratory in Shawbury,” said Sam Sheppard Fidler, Vice President and General Manager, Smithers Rapra/Smithers Pira Europe. The expansion addresses growing client demand across the UK and mainland Europe for product life testing in the automotive, aerospace, industrial and energy sectors, said the company. The Shawbury facility will offer a range of product durability and performance testing services including (but not limited to):
- Fixture design to meet customer and specification testing requirements
- Pressure, vibration and temperature
- Environmental aging and exposure
- Circulation of diesel and petrol
Leading the team in the expanded lab is Simon Hubbard, Director of Product Testing for Smithers Rapra UK. Hubbard has over 35 years of experience in the automotive industry including extensive development expertise with rubber and plastic materials and components.
