POLAND: Grupa Azoty chooses Grace PP technology for its planned Police polymers project
PDH Polska, a special purpose vehicle of Grupa Azoty, has selected Grace Technologies to license the technology for the polypropylene (PP) portion of its planned polymers project in Police, Poland.
The project, estimated to cost EUR 1.27 billion, will include a facility for propylene production, based on Honeywell UOP's Oleflex PDH technology, as well as a PP plant.
Construction is scheduled to start in late 2019 and be completed in late 2022.
The decision to contract Grace still requires approval from the extraordinary general meeting of PDH Polska.
Approval has already been received from the supervisory board. PDH Polska said it is also in the process of selecting a future general contractor under a lump sum turn-key contract.
"Extending the product chain to include polypropylene offers potential for generating additional and more stable profit margin," noted Wojciech Wardacki, president of the management board of Grupa Azoty. "It also creates the opportunity to operate on the larger and less saturated polypropylene market, and to flatten out our business cycle," he added.
