Chem-Trend announced the opening of an advanced research and development (R+D) laboratory space in Maisach, Germany, about 25 km west of Munich. The company said the new lab space will enhance its existing R+D capabilities and joins its network of laboratories across the globe. Chem-Trend is a supplier of release agents, purging compounds, and other process chemical specialities.
Chem-Trend’s parent company, Freudenberg Chemical Specialities (FCS), has invested roughly EUR 40 million into the new facility. Various parts of the facility will be used by FCS’ Chem-Trend, Klüber Lubrication, and OKS business units. The integrated space includes areas for R+D, warehousing, training, dining, and administrative services. The investment primarily aims to enhance service and technical support, and advance development capabilities for its customers over the long term, said the company.
The centre includes equipment and laboratory space for Chem-Trend’s thermoplastics, polyurethane, and wood composite R+D teams. According to the company, especially the new test field for product development, evaluation, and demonstration is key to delivering enhanced service to customers, with a special focus on Europe-based OEMs.
“Chem-Trend’s R+D teams will benefit from additional lab space, yet the greatest value lies in the cooperative layout of the new laboratories, offices, and test fields. The development lab is designed to foster easy communication and development synergies, and to provide cross-functional support,” said Devanir Moraes, President and CEO, Chem-Trend. “With these newly optimised R+D capabilities in Maisach, we are well positioned to accelerate our speed to market in Europe and keep our customers one step ahead.” Chem-Trend serves customers through offices in North America, South America, Asia, and Europe and is part of the Freudenberg Group.
