The trade association of the German rubber industry (Wirtschaftsverband der deutschen Kautschukindustrie – wdk) with Stephan Rau, Technical Managing Director, will be the new patron of the innovation forum for end-of-life tyre recycling AZuR (Allianz Zukunft Reifen).
Since its foundation in 2020, AZuR has been funded for ten months by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung – BMBF). Now, the network will be continued under the auspices of the wdk, initially self-financed until the end of 2022.
Recycling of waste tyres and sustainable products are the focus of the AZuR network. The network is an alliance of companies, associations, organisations and research institutions that pursue the goal of recycling end-of-life tyres to 100 % and feeding them into a closed material cycle.
Anish Taneja, President of wdk, emphasised at a digital AZuR event that the network can act as a bridge builder in the complex environment of end-of-life tyre recycling. With a total of 36 participating companies and organisations, the network already covers very many fields of application.
