Kottayam , May 26
The current trends in the international markets are
favourable to the growers and the price will not fall
in a big way, said Mr Sajan Peter, Chairman, Rubber
Board, while inaugurating a State-level campaign to
interact with 100,000 rubber growers both by
door-to-door contacts and 4,000 group meetings at
various places in the State.

He cited three important factors for the current
status in the plantation industry: the research
achievements, the functioning of an effective
extension wing, and above all 1 million rubber growers
who implemented the board's programmes.

The board intends to export 100,000 tonnes during the
current fiscal. Since international prices are ruling
above domestic prices, export is possible without any
subsidy.
