DuPont reaches workplace safety record

DuPont Performance Elastomer Akron Laboratory set an all-time DuPont workplace safety record with 60 years without an Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable lost workday case.

Since 1946, the lab has recorded 4.4million exposure hours with zero recordable lost workday injuries. The company held a ceremony at the site today to commemorate the honour. DuPont said the U.S. Bureau of Labour statistics give a comparable recordable injury rate for workers in the synthetic rubber industry as 2.9cases per 100workers in2005. Had the Stow site’s performance been at the industry average, the firm said there would have been 64injuries over a 60-yearperiod.
