Nova institute shares an insight in the global bio-based polymer market 2019, and we have a glimpse at the Natural Rubber Trends and Statistics for April 2020 provided by the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC).
We shed a light on the work of the Elastomer Competence Center (ECC) that combines research and application technology in a cooperation with the University of Twente and the Polymer Science Park in the Netherlands. You will find an interview with Chigusa Yamada and Eshwaran Subramani B. from Asahi Kasei Europe, with whom we talked about the Rubber Lab at the R+D Center in Dormagen, Germany during Tire Technology Expo 2020. - Analysis of methods for measuring dispersion of fillers in rubber compounds

This paper will discuss the use of three techniques used to measure dispersion of fillers in rubber compounds: Phillips Dispersion test, Dispergrader test, and nSpec 3D topography scan. A simple SBR compound was selected and five different fillers were evaluated. This paper will also briefly discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the three different dispersion measurement techniques.
- Application of artificial intelligence in the compounding process

This article will show concrete application possibilities using the example of a compounding process for elastomers. In this way, employees can be supported in the identification of root-causes and quality defects on the basis of data; in addition, time-consuming manual tests can be focused on critical batches. With the help of the standard model for data analysis CRISP-DM, the mixing process is viewed from the data glasses and analyzed in a structured way.
