Wedinger is Chemtura’s new group president Performance Specialties
Chemtura Corporation has named Dr. Robert S. Wedinger to the position of group president, performance specialties (petroleum additives, urethanes, polyurethane dispersions, fluorine, and optical monomers). Wedinger also serves as chief of staff. He joined Chemtura in May 2006 with responsibility for the rubber chemicals and EPDM polymers businesses.
Dr. Wedinger came to Chemtura from J. M. Huber Corporation in Maryland, USA, a USD 2.5 billion private diversified manufacturer, where he served as vice president and general manager of performance materials business and consumer products business. His other previous positions include vice president and general manager for Honeywell International (AlliedSignal) in New Jersey, USA; global technical director for the food ingredients division of US-based FMC Corporation in Pennsylvania; and several positions in FMC Corporation's lithium division in North Carolina.
He earned a bachelor of science in chemistry and biology and a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry. He was a post-doctoral research fellow in synthetic organic chemistry at Harvard University. He holds 10 US patents and has three patents pending.
Effective 30 April 2007 the company also appointed Stephen C. Forsyth as executive vice president and chief financial officer. He succeeds Karen R. Osar whose retirement from the company was effective then.
