Powder coatings from old tyres
AkzoNobel and Dutch company Black Bear have agreed on a cooperation to produce powder coatings using carbon black obtained from end-of-life tyres.
The cradle-to-cradle certified carbon black from Black Bear is used as pigment in the eco-premium products developed by AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business. According to AkzoNobel, powder coatings are an inherently sustainable product as they contain no volatile organic compounds (VOC) and produce virtually no waste. The majority of products supplied through the company’s Interpon brand also qualify as eco-premium. Furthermore, the two companies announced that they will work together to find additional applications for Black Bear’s certified carbon black.
