Production of small TPE parts with mould cavity pressure sensors

von Dr. Gupta Verlag

In practice, the viscosity and elasticity of thermoplastic elastomers present processors with several processing hurdles. This applies particularly when changing production lots. In addition to this, continuous adjustment of the injection moulding machine is often needed, especially with multi-cavity moulds, in order to keep the moulding process within close tolerances, yet without really mastering cavity filling. At plastics processor Boida in Austria it has been possible to adapt the injection moulding machine to the moulded part through use of mould cavity pressure measurement and to thereby apply a real attempt at achievement of zero defects production.
