Effect of titanate coupling agent on the mechanical properties of zinc oxide-filled chloroprene rubber and natural rubber
von Dr. Nabil Abdullah Noman Alkadasi
Effect of treatment of coupling agent [(Neopentyl(diallyl)oxy, trineodecanonyl
titanate)(LICA 01)] on mechanical properties of composites made from chloroprene
rubber and natural rubber with zinc oxide as a filler are reported here. The
treatment resulted in enhancement of mechanical properties of composites of the
rubber when compared with untreated zinc oxide composites separately.
The properties under consideration were tensile strength, modulus at 100 % and 400 %, Young’s modulus, hardness etc. Tensile strength improved by 121 % and 234 %, while modulus at 400 % improved by 180 %, 233 % and Young’s modulus improved by 102 % and 234 % for untreated and treated chloroprene and natural
rubber at 0.58 volume fraction.
