Durability and functional reliability are central criteria in
evaluating conveying and processing machinery and plants,
such as ball mills, in the raw materials processing industry.
Wear on machine components plays an important part particularly when, as is frequently the case, abrasive bulk material/goods have to be handled. The use of elastomeric wearing parts, thanks to their various material properties, can significantly increase the lifetime of such plant and contribute to optimising their performance.
Computer simulation based on the discrete element method (DEM) represents a new way of analysing the influence of elastomeric wear components on the course of the particle mechanical processes.
