Novel chain-extenders for polyurea spray coatings
von William R. Brown, Paul L. Wiggins
Polyurea polymers have long been known to have better physical and thermal properties than polyurethane polymers. Until now, polyureas have not been utilised as much due mainly to their fast reactivity in 2-part spray and reaction injection moulding applications.
This paper will introduce developmental chain-extenders, which, not only will allow a choice of longer gel times but, can offer the user a variety of reactivities unattainable in the past. We will discuss the developmental process used to discover these materials and show comparative data with commercial products used in the 2-part spray markets today.
