Star introduces new line of TPEs for pet products

These include materials and thus toys that can be molded in the USA which are:

• non-toxic/safe
• long lasting (“bite proof”)
• colorful and easy to mold into a large variety of shapes
• recyclable

The company said that many of the StarPet grades already have been fully tested in the field and are currently being used by leading pet products manufacturers. Available in black or natural (or provided in colors of choice by Star), the TPEs are available in a range of hardness or from 30 to 65 Shore A.

Star Thermoplastics cites a statistic from www.americanpetproducts.org which says that pet products including toys for cats and dogs are estimated to account for as much as USD 10 billion in sales per year. In addition, this trade association for pet products producers notes that the “average” dog owner spends USD 43 per year on dog toys, and cat owners USD 21 per year. It is estimated that there are 86.4 million cat owners in the US alone and 78.2 million dog owners.
