Kraton recently introduced two new hydrogenated styrenic block copolymers: MD6951 and MD1648 are said to present a unique balance of high elasticity, extraordinary tensile strength and exceptional lower melt viscosity.
TPE for protective caps
Pöppelmann uses a thermoplastic elastomer for the manufacture of a news series of protective caps. These caps, recently introduced at the Hannover Messe fair in April, protect hose and pipe ends, shafts and threaded bolts from dirt and damage when stored or transported as well as during post-treatment and assembly.

Novomer announces commercial launch of Converge PPC polyols
Novomer Inc. in Waltham, MA, USA, has announced the commercial introduction of Converge polypropylene carbonate (PPC) polyols for use in polyurethane formulations targeted at adhesives, coatings, sealants, elastomers, as well as rigid and flexible foams. The company’s initial product offerings – 1000 and 2000 molecular weight grades – are manufactured at a multi-thousand-tonne commercial-scale toll facility in Houston, TX, USA.
APS Elastomers launches new TPU for injection moulding
APS Elastomers in Romulus, MI, USA, has developed a versatile thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) specifically formulated for injection moulding applications. The polyester-based TPU is said to exhibit good abrasion resistance and toughness, and has high hydrolytic stability, oil, fuel, and solvent resistance.
Low density TPE for adhesion to polyamide
In response to the demand for weight reduction, Müller Kunststoffe has partnered with polyamide specialist Akro-Plastic on a low density adhesion-modified TPE. The company says that the specific gravity of the material is less than 1 g/cm3.

TPE enhances consumer appeal of water bottle
The US-company Gobie H2O has selected a PolyOne GLS Versaflex formulation and FDA-compliant OnColor colourants for its reusable filtered water bottles. PolyOne said that the combined material solution has helped Gobie to enhance the consumer appeal and functionality of its product.
Bio-based coated TPO fabric
The French company Chomarat announced the development of bio-based TPOs by using Gaïalene, a plant-based resin supplied by Roquette. This resin made from starch is a specific flexible grade. The Oflex Bio-based line consists of a textile material or foam coated with these new bio-based TPOs.
Huntsman to launch new TPU grades at Chinaplas 2014

Purity Scanner ensures 100 % pellet inspection
Sikora has launched the Purity Scanner, a system for the 100 % online inspection and sorting of pellets. The intelligent application of X-ray technology with an optical system allows the detection of impurities of 50 µm. Contaminated pellets are reliably sorted out. The inspection allows the detection of organic and metallic contaminations inside the pellet as well as on the pellet surface, using a special combination of X-ray technology and an optical system. The company says the combination of both technologies is unique and is exceeding previous solutions on the market. Even non-transparent materials can be detected.
Kraton to showcase SBC compounds for use in FDM applications at EuroMold
Kraton announced that it will exhibit at EuroMold 2013 and will highlight its advancements in SBC compounds for use in fused deposition modeling (FDM) applications. The company said that the newly developed SBCs are soft, durable, sustainable, 100 % recyclable and can be used to produce diverse products in a variety of applications.
