New developments in Trixene and Witcobond

At the European Coatings Show the Urethane Surface Coatings Division of Baxenden presented new developments in Trixene blocked isocyanates. These products include new water-based blocked crosslinkers for applications such as OEM-type, heat cure coatings and adhesion treatments for industrial processes e.g. fibre reinforcement.

Another focus was on conventional PU systems with very low MDI and TDI contents that meet new regulatory requirements. Low monomer products are suitable for a broad spectrum of applications, ranging from adhesives to 2-K membrane coatings.

Latest developments in the Witcobond PUD range were also highlighted. These materials are used in aqueous coatings and finishes for hard and soft substrates. The range includes high-solids products, dispersions with low or no co-solvent (including NMP-free), and grades without APEO/NPEO or other surfactants.

Recently Baxenden launched a Witcobond selector chart on its website representing all commercially available ranges available from the manufacturing site in Droitwich, UK, and the Chemtura manufacturing site in Perth Amboy, NJ, US. It provides comparative data on aqueous dispersion and typical film properties, as well as guidance for use in different application areas such as plastic, metal, leather and textile finishing plus a whole host of specialist applications.
