PVC-free solutions for strictly regulated applications

Actega DS is specialised in materials for strictly-regulated markets such as food, beverage, pharmaceutical and medical industries.
The TPE compounder early started the development of PVC-free technologies. In the 1980s it successfully established PVC-free materials for crown caps and aluminum caps on the market. A product for metal/plastic composite cap has been launched in 2006 which is able to withstand sterilisation process. The development of PVC-free materials for vacuum metal closures started in 2005. In 2008, Actega presented the first Provalin prototype and in 2010 the variant 1241 was launched as a comprehensive sealing compound for products with a high oil/fat content in twist-off caps. Only recently the company announced that Andechser Natur uses Provalin for its yoghurt lids.

Besides the Provalin and the medical ProvaMed series Actega DS supplies the Svelon series that includes a range of PVC-free compounds for crown caps, twist caps, aluminum and plastic closures for beer, mineral water, wine, etc. Oxylon is a barrier sealant especially for protecting beverages from oxygen and other volatile substances. In this case, too, different variants are available for corresponding product requirements. Additional barrier compounds – for plastic closures – will be available soon, Actega DS announced. In addition, the company offers Polyliners for use with plastic closures and its Peak-Free technology for contents with especially delicate sensory properties.

Actega DS was founded in 1920 as Diersch & Schröder; since 1995 it is a member of the Altana AG. It is based in Bremen and has 120 employees.
