Kuraray to establish new PVA facility in the US

Kuraray announced the establishment of a new PVA production facility at its subsidiary Kuraray America, Inc. in La Porte, Houston, Texas.

The company said that land for the facility already has been purchased. This decision follows earlier business expansions in Japan, Singapore and Germany. Kuraray mentioned that the new production base is advantageously situated, as shale gas is easy to procure in North America.

The capacity is said to be 40,000 t/y in the first phase. Completion of facility construction is planned for September 2014. The output is destined to meet market demands in North America, as well as Central and South America.
