Ciech aims to sell foams business

Polish chemicals group Ciech has announced plans to sell its flexible foams business, Ciech Pianki, as part of the chemical group’s sales of its soda ash business.

The group claims to have already received offers from interested parties. Ciech is a major fertiliser manufacturer. Ciech Pianki supplies foam blocks as well as shapes, sliced blocks and sets mainly to end users in Central and Eastern European markets.

“The only question is choosing the right time and getting a satisfactory price offer,” Dariusz Krawczyk, President of the Management Board of Ciech, said.

In March 2013, Ciech completed the sale of parts of its PU intermediate toluene diisocyanate (TDI) business to global chemicals giant BASF for EUR 43 million.
