CHINA: OCI forms joint venture with Zaokuang to build Chinese carbon black plant

OCI Co. Ltd., of South Korea, in announcing its second quarter financial results, noted that it has signed an agreement with Zaokuang Group in China for a carbon black joint venture.

The venture will build and operate an 80,000-t/y carbon black production unit in Zaozhuang, Shandong, China. Completion is expected by 2015. OCI’s wholly-owned OCI China will hold a 51% interest in the joint venture and Zaokuang, which is part of Shandong Energy Group, will hold 49%.
