SRI LANKA: BASF Lanka appoints new MD

BASF has appointed Panduka Weerasingha as the Managing Director of BASF Lanka (Pvt) Ltd with effect from 28 August 2014. He succeeds S. Ramnath. Weerasingha has also been appointed as a Director on the Board of BASF Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.

Weerasingha’s alma mater is S Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from University at Los Angeles, California. He has more than 15 years of experience in leadership roles and has previously worked with companies such as Brown & Company PLC, Singer Sri Lanka, Nivasie Developers (Pvt) Ltd, and Lanka Walltiles.

BASF has had an association with Sri Lanka for almost 75 years. With 45 employees, and a state-of-the-art warehousing complex at Sapugaskande, BASF registered sales of approximately EUR 20 million to customers in Sri Lanka in 2013.
