Asahi Kasei to construct SSBR plant in Singapore

Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corp. will construct a new production plant for solution-polymerised styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) for fuel-efficient tyres in Tembusu district on Jurong Island, Singa­pore, with start-up scheduled for June 2013.

The plant will initially have a capacity to produce 50 kt/y of SSBR and will be expanded by a further 50 kt/y by the first half of 2015.
