Enplast introduces new TPVs

Following the acquisition of Polyprime in the United States, Enplast recently introduced a new TPV series to the European markets. The EzPrene series currently consists of nine types ranging in hardness from 55 Shore A to 50 Shore D. This series complements the company’s Enflex VL and VU family of general-purpose elastomers for applications in the automotive, construction, and plumbing industries. Enplast said the EzPrene series employs a proprietary cure technology and that the products are non-hygroscopic, therefore they do not need to be dried prior to processing. For each of the members of the EzPrene family there are grades available that are marketed specifically for applications in colour.
The materials in the series are comparable to conventional TPVs in terms of strength and elasticity, in regard to colourability and the eliminiation of pre-drying they outperform them.

Enplast furthermore said that the EzPrene grades show better resistance to oil swell and also exhibit better resistance to compression set than competitive colourable materials. This gives designers the option to introduce colour into applications that traditionally have not been candidates for aesthetic treatment. The new materials also exhibit low levels of fogging and smell caused by outgassing, which makes them ideal for colour matched parts in automotive interiors.

The combination of good colourability and performance makes materials in the new EzPrene series also suitable for applications such as construction weatherseals or consumer products, where bright or subtle colours are desired.

Enplast has announced that it intends to continue developing new additions to the series. A high flow grade that is suitable for injection moulding of large articles is already in limited commercial production.

Enplast’s manufacturing, distribution, and technology facilities are located in Istanbul, Turkey. The acquisition of Polyprime, Inc., in the first quarter of 2012 added development and manufacturing resources in Arlington, TX, USA. Production and engineering operations are certified to the standards of ISO/TS 16949:2002 for quality systems. Enplast and Enplast Americas, Inc. are members of the Belgian Ravago Group.
