ECHA advises of important dates for REACH registration

The second REACH deadline is just around the corner. Phase-in substances, manufactured or imported in the range of 100 – 1,000 t/y, need to be registered by 31 May 2013.

The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) announced it is ready to handle all these new registrations and can support companies through the process. Before the actual deadline, there is another important date – 31 March 2013. ECHA encourages all lead registrants to submit their registration dossiers before this date for two reasons. Firstly, to receive the result of the completeness check sooner, as ECHA must perform the completeness check of all registrations received before that date within three weeks of submission. The REACH regulation expects a peak of submissions immediately preceding each registration deadline and has therefore established a longer period of three months for ECHA to check the completeness of submissions received after 31 March 2013. Secondly, submitting the lead dossier well in advance of the May deadline will allow participants of the joint submission to file their dossiers on time. It is important to remember that the members can only submit their dossiers once the lead dossier has been accepted, says ECHA.
