MALAYSIA: Continental Tyre Malaysia aims to increase sales of budget-oriented products

Continental Tyre PJ Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTM) aims to increase sales in its budget-oriented product segment this year, in line with the challenging economy that is weighing down the local currency, said Managing Director Cameron Wilson.

He said last year was a good one for the tyre manufacturer in the Malaysian market, despite the uncertainties globally.

"Continental Tyre has a range of different product lines for various segments of the market. So, we still saw our sales figure improving. . . .We also saw higher demand for budget and value-oriented products. Therefore, this year, we expect to continue and support these segments of the market," he told Bernama during the launch of the company's Chinese New Year Road Safety Campaign 2016 in Kuala Lumpur.

Wilson said the company also hoped to secure an increase of at least 10 % in the budget-oriented product segment, compared with 14 % last year. He added the company, which has a 30 per cent market share in Malaysia, will increase its capital expenditure in this segment.
