Nexen Tire breaks ground for new plant in Czech Republic

Nexen Tire will invest more than EUR 829 million to build a plant on 650,000 m2 of land in Zatec, Czech Republic, creating over 1,000 jobs in the region.

The company plans for the plant to be operational by 2018 and then to gradually increase its annual production capacity to over 12 million units. According to the company, the plant will serve the European market and ensure a stable supply of original equipment tyres for global car manufacturers, including Volkswagen, Renault, Skoda, Seat, and others. Besides a plant in Qingdao, China, the new facility will be Nexen’s second manufacturing plant outside Korea. The company is headquartered in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, and in Seoul, South Korea, and produces tyres for passenger cars, SUVs, and light
