THAILAND: Major Thai rubber trade negotiation to be held with 25 countries

The Ministry of Commerce has revealed that 25 countries have responded to its invitation to take part in a major rubber trade negotiation and expects to be able to achieve 17 billion baht worth of deals from the talks.

Department of International Trade Promotion Director-General Malee Choklumlert made known that 160 companies from 25 countries have responded to her agency’s invitation to take part in a business matching session with Thai enterprises in the rubber sector.

The session was created to satisfy government policy looking to drive the nation’s rubber prices higher through greater exports and to divert the rubber industry away from reliance on domestic sales.

Countries to be present at the major negotiation include China, South Korea, Japan, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, USA, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, members of the European Union and members of ASEAN. Products to be presented to visiting businesses include rubber for tires, para-rubber pillows and mattresses, rubber gloves, pellets and rubber auto parts.

The session is scheduled to take place on 29 February 2016 at the Vipavadhee Ballroom of Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao. It is expected that USD 500 million or 17 billion baht in trade deals will be negotiated at the event.
