SRI LANKA: Colombo OK’s fertilizer subsidiary for rubber smallholders

Sri Lanka’s cabinet has approved a fertilizer subsidy for rubber smallholders who own cultivated land in extent of two hectares or less, in proportion to the extent of land cultivated annually.

The proposal was made by Navin Dissanayake, minister of plantation industries, to increase the current extent of land from one hectare to two hectares with the view of benefiting more cultivators under the above subsidy scheme.

A financial subsidy of LKR 5,000 for rubber sector will be granted, a statement on approved cabinet decisions said.
